​Designing versatile materials that can be used for the optimization of biological sample preparation is highly desired yet still challenging. The superhydrophobic (SH) pillared surface is an effective solution offering the researcher the possibility to perform different high-resolution imaging measurements. It consists in simple but effective system allowing fast and reproducible specimen preparation for the obtainment of isolated plasma membranes images. By means of micro-nano featured surfaces and sample deposition in super hydrophobicity condition, we were able to carry out high resolution imaging to overcome the bottlenecks in the membrane protein research, for the study of cellular membrane and integral membrane proteins that play critical roles also in the management of various pathological conditions of diseases.​
